Fix the material prompt
Fix the material prompt
A furniture studio wants an editorial photo of its leather sofa. The brief was written in a hurry and has produced two generic renders in a row — the leather looks plastic and none of the wear the studio loves is visible.
Rewrite the prompt so the sofa's material, finish, condition and state each give the model something specific to render.
The weak prompt
a photo of a leather sofa in a nice living room, very premium quality, looks expensive
A strong version (self-assessment — not machine-graded)
An editorial photo of a three-seat sofa in cognac leather with an oiled matte finish, a soft sheen along the cushions and gentle worn creases on the arms and seat; a quiet living room with warm afternoon side light raking across the leather from the left.
Hint
Replace every judgement with a property: “expensive” becomes a finish, “nice” becomes a material.
Texture hides in flat light — add one clause about how the light meets the surface.
Why this is the answer
The weak prompt describes a price and a feeling; the fixed one describes a surface. Cognac, oiled, matte, worn creases: each answer narrows what the renderer can supply, and each is separable — so when the leather looks too new, you adjust one clause instead of the whole brief. Materials reward precision more than any other slot, because everyone recognises how a real surface should age.
